Software Engineer - Generalist

This position is for supporting the development of hardware and systems developed by Ideal Vacuum Products and Ideal Spectroscopy. Join our dynamic, professional, and experienced programming team. We work on modern, feature-rich applications to allow customers to interface with our cutting-edge space and laser technology. We are not government affiliated, but we do support universities and private/government labs around the world innovating on the next generation of space flight! We are growing as a company, and we would like you to join our team to meet our growing demand.

A candidate in this position will primarily be responsible for generating Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs) supporting our equipment. They will also fill gaps in all aspects of product software development as needed. We want an engineer who has strong fundamentals backed up by a variety of other skills or knowledge bases.

This position is a design position. The candidate contribute to a multi-disciplinary design team that includes electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, scientists, and technicians to design the best product possible.

Qualifications:

• Computer science bachelor’s degree or experience to match.
• Demonstratable, strong programming fundamentals.
• Willingness and ability to discuss, implement, and iterate design choices.
• Ability to perform work on multiple concurrent projects according to given priorities and deadlines.
• Desire and commitment to learn new skills and technology.
• Comfortable working with others outside of the software engineering team.

Desired Skills and Experience:

• .NET programming experience.
• WPF programming experience.
• C/C++ programming experience.
• Reflection fundamentals.
• Driver development.
• Background in mathematics and algorithm development.
• Experience with microcontrollers.

Full-time Position:

• 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM with some flexibility
• Monday through Friday
• On-site (Albuquerque, NM)
