TIG Welding and Fabrication Position

Senior Welder

Ideal Vacuum is looking for an experienced welder to join our manufacturing team. Our company creates and sells many welded vacuum related products such as fittings, adapters, vacuum chambers, frame weldments, and specialized custom components. A successful applicant will be able to demonstrate strong skills in precision welding and fabrication. Excellent English reading and writing skills are required. Daily use of computers to perform job functions is required.

Responsibilities

Follow verbal and written instructions, cooperate with team members, and possess strong focus to stay productive. Methodical work and attention to detail are valuable assets in our team. After completing OJT (on-job training) and probationary period, a welder at Ideal Vacuum is:

• Concerned with work accuracy and attention to detail
• Proficient in fabrication processes used in company product lines
• Clean, well organized, and skilled at maximizing personal productivity
• Able to improve procedures and product quality when required

Education/Knowledge

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
• Welder training/AWS certifications
• Experience with multiple welding and fabrication processes
• Experience in aerospace welding, vacuum system welding, or other precision fabrication
• Reading and interpreting drawings with tolerance dimensions and weld symbols
• Proficient in computer useage

Job Tasks

This position primarily involves the manufacture of stainless vacuum fittings, stainless and aluminum vacuum chambers, and steel frames. Welding is required for batch run production work, custom projects, and prototyping for new products. The following tasks are common work activities for a welder at Ideal Vacuum:

• TIG Welding
• MIG Welding
• 304SS, 6061-T6, mild steel welding
• Plate Finishing/Polishing
• Electrochemical weld cleaning/passivation
• Rotary/orbital welding
• Power/hand tool operation
• Manipulating heavy workpieces

Pay & Benefits

• Hourly Wage, $24 to $27 per hour, depending on experience (DOE)
